Yard Lands a Double at Southwell thanks to some great riding by Joey Haynes!
It was some finish in LEDNIKOV’s race. There wasn’t much between the first four approaching the post, but he put in a gutsy performance to get home in front for Joey Haynes. Awarded a race in the stewards’ room over 1m4f at Southwell last month, from a subsequent winner, he followed up off this 4lb higher mark, staying on doggedly inside the final half-furlong to land the spoils. He’s taken his form to a new level since having a visor applied and should have more to come.
On the same card, FUNKY TOWN PINKIE added to her easy win over 2m here last time, for which she was only raised 3lb, and looks like a filly on the upgrade. She was well positioned and prominent in a race win which the clear leader came back to the field. Asked to go 2f out, she put her best foot forward to lead over 1f out, and stayed on well.
